En 2015, la Fondation Alamire, centre international de recherche musicale aux Pays-Bas, a été sollicitée par un historien de l’art mandaté par un marchand d’art afin d’obtenir des conseils musicologiques sur un petit manuscrit musical. Des recherches plus approfondies ont rapidement révélé son importance : le manuscrit a été identifié comme un chansonnier du XVe siècle jusqu’alors inconnu. Comme il n’a pas été possible de déterminer qui était son propriétaire d’origine, il a été baptisé « Leuven Chansonnier », d’après son nouvel emplacement à la Library of Voices, l’un des bâtiments que la Fondation Alamire utilise sur le site historique de l’abbaye de Park à Louvain (BE). La collection est d’une valeur exceptionnelle. Elle comprend 50 compositions, dont une œuvre sacrée et 49 chansons françaises, dont 12 ne sont conservées dans aucune autre source. Bien qu’aucun des compositeurs ne soit nommé, 26 œuvres ont pu être attribuées, grâce à d’autres sources, à des représentants éminents de la polyphonie franco-flamande du XVe siècle, tels que Johannes Ockeghem, Antoine Busnoys et Firminus Caron. Les auteurs des 24 chansons restantes sont pour l’instant anonymes.

Le Sollazzo Ensemble est un groupe acclamé par la critique qui se consacre à l’interprétation de la musique du Moyen Âge et de la Renaissance. Fondé en 2014 par Anna Danilevskaia, l’ensemble est réputé pour ses interprétations expressives, sa sonorité unique et son approche façonnée par les influences musicales et les personnalités variées de ses membres. À partir d’un répertoire historique et de critères d’interprétation solides, le groupe cherche à transmettre les émotions qu’il a lui-même ressenties ou à exprimer des idées qui lui tiennent à cœur. Ce processus d’appropriation d’artefacts historiques à travers plusieurs couches de travail créatif rigoureux constitue la base de la communication avec le public, car les membres de l’ensemble souhaitent donner à chaque pièce une voix qui reflète à la fois les racines historiques du matériau et la vision unique de l’ensemble.

In 2015 werd de Alamire Foundation, het Internationaal Centrum voor de Studie van Muziek in de Lage Landen, benaderd door een kunsthistoricus die namens een kunsthandelaar musicologisch advies vroeg over een klein muziekmanuscript. Verdere studie bracht al snel zijn betekenis aan het licht: het manuscript bleek een tot dan toe onbekend vijftiende-eeuws chansonnier te zijn. Aangezien de oorspronkelijke eigenaar nog niet kon worden vastgesteld, kreeg het de naam “Leuven Chansonnier”, verwijzend naar de nieuwe bewaarplaats in de Library of Voices, een van de gebouwen van de Alamire Foundation op de historische abdijsite van Park in Leuven (BE). Het liedboek is van uitzonderlijke waarde. Het bevat vijftig composities: één religieus werk en negenenveertig Franse chansons, waarvan er twaalf in geen enkele andere bron bewaard zijn gebleven. Hoewel er in het handschrift geen componistennamen vermeld worden, kunnen dankzij andere bronnen zesentwintig werken aan componisten worden toegeschreven, onder wie vooraanstaande vijftiende-eeuwse Frans-Vlaamse polyfonisten zoals Johannes Ockeghem, Antoine Busnoys en Firminus Caron. De makers van de overige vierentwintig chansons blijven voorlopig anoniem.

Het Sollazzo Ensemble is een veelgeprezen groep die zich toelegt op de uitvoering van middeleeuwse en renaissancemuziek. Het ensemble werd in 2014 opgericht door Anna Danilevskaia en staat bekend om zijn sterk expressieve uitvoeringsstijl en karakteristieke klank, gevormd door de diverse muzikale achtergronden en persoonlijkheden van de leden. Vertrekkend vanuit historische repertoires en geïnformeerde uitvoeringspraktijken, streeft het ensemble ernaar emoties over te brengen die zij persoonlijk hebben ervaren, of ideeën te uiten die voor hen betekenisvol zijn. Presenting the first complete recording of the Leuven Chansonnier!

In 2015 the Alamire Foundation, the International Centre for the Study of Music in the Low Countries, was approached by an art historian working on behalf of an art dealer, seeking musicological advice about a small music manuscript. Subsequent research quickly unveiled its significance: the manuscript was identified as a previously unknown fifteenth-century chansonnier. Since the original owner could not yet be ascertained, it was named the “Leuven Chansonnier”, reflecting its new location in the Library of Voices, one of the buildings that the Alamire Foundation occupies on the historic Park Abbey site in Leuven (BE). The songbook is of exceptional value. It transmits 50 compositions, consisting of one religious work and 49 French chansons, 12 of which survive in no other source. Although no composers’ names are mentioned, other sources identify the composers of 26 of its works; these include such leading fifteenth-century Franco-Flemish polyphonists such as Johannes Ockeghem, Antoine Busnoys, and Firminus Caron. The creators of the other 24 chansons remain anonymous for the time being.
